Agency Migration Guide
Klaviyo to HubSpot Migration
What actually transfers, what quietly does not, and what has to be rebuilt by hand.
We mapped Klaviyo against HubSpot feature by feature: 41 features, 2 synced objects, 13 documented traps and 21 items that have to be rebuilt. The whole map is on this page, ungated.
The PDF is the same reference, formatted to send to a client.
Get The Guide And The Calculator
The full Klaviyo to HubSpot reference as a branded PDF you can send straight to a client, plus the Excel calculator we scope these migrations with: every one of the 41 features as a row, enter your counts, get hours.
Three files: the guide as a PDF, the same guide unbranded in Markdown for your AI tool, and the full Excel effort calculator.
Klaviyo to HubSpot is a high migration, typically 4-12 weeks. Of 41 features we mapped, 6 carry across as they are and 30 land with something lost. The work is not moving records: it is the 21 items nothing moves for you.

The HubSpot Marketplace listing is a third-party app by KAV Labs requiring its own paid subscription from roughly $29 per month, on top of an active Klaviyo plan. It works with any HubSpot tier. Note the direction of travel: this app exists to let the two platforms coexist, not to migrate off Klaviyo.

The Two Objects That Sync Natively
What the connector moves for you, and which way each one flows.
Profiles
Two wayBecomes Contacts
Third-party sync only, via the KAV Labs app. Email is the primary identifier. Klaviyo profile custom properties are schemaless key-value pairs created on the fly, whereas HubSpot requires every property to be defined in advance with a fixed type. That mismatch is the main cause of silent data loss on import: any property that was never formally declared in HubSpot simply does not arrive.
Engagement events
Into HubSpotBecomes Contact timeline activity
The KAV Labs app surfaces Klaviyo opens, clicks, and campaign activity on the HubSpot contact timeline while both systems run. This is display of live activity, not a migration of historical event history. Klaviyo's full event archive does not transfer through this or any other route.
Thirteen Things the Sync Does Not Tell You
Each one is documented, and each one has ended a migration in a bad week.
No HubSpot-built Connector Exists, and the Marketplace App Is for Coexistence Not Migration
Klaviyo is not a HubSpot Data Sync app and is not supported by Smart Transfer. The Klaviyo listing in the HubSpot Marketplace is built by KAV Labs, a Klaviyo partner, and requires its own paid subscription. Its purpose is to let sales teams see Klaviyo engagement while marketing keeps sending from Klaviyo, which is the opposite of a migration.
Workaround: Plan a CSV and API migration. The marketplace app can be genuinely useful during a parallel-run period, but budget it as a temporary cost rather than as the migration mechanism.
The Event Model Is the Migration, and It Does Not Transfer
Klaviyo is event-first: profiles are described by an indefinitely retained stream of events (metrics) such as Placed Order, Viewed Product, Started Checkout, and Checkout Abandoned. Segments, flow triggers, and reporting all read that stream. HubSpot is property-first, with lifecycle stages and contact properties as the primary primitives. Custom behavioral events exist but require Professional or Enterprise, cap each event occurrence at 50 properties, and work differently enough that flows cannot be translated one to one.
Workaround: Map every event that actually drives a flow or segment, and only those. Some become HubSpot custom behavioral events, some collapse into contact properties updated by integration, and some require the trigger logic to be rethought entirely. Expect to redesign rather than translate. Where historical events power a segment, export the resulting audience and load it as a static list.
Most Predictive Analytics Have No HubSpot Equivalent
Klaviyo computes predicted customer lifetime value, churn risk, expected date of next order, average time between orders, and predicted gender, retraining weekly off the event stream. HubSpot has no equivalent predictive suite: the one exception is churn, where Service Hub Professional health scores band customers as at-risk, neutral or healthy, but that is an admin-defined rules score over CRM and support signals, not a trained model over purchase behaviour. Segments and flows built on the other predictive fields have no destination.
Workaround: Export the current predictive values as static contact properties so the last known state survives, and accept that they immediately begin going stale because nothing recalculates them. Segments built on churn risk or predicted CLV need replacing with rules built from data HubSpot actually holds, such as recency and order count.
Dynamic Segments Built on Event History Cannot Be Rebuilt Faithfully
Klaviyo segments can filter on the entire retained event history with arbitrary time windows, for example anyone who viewed a product three or more times in the last 30 days but has not ordered. HubSpot active lists cannot express most of these conditions, because the underlying event data is neither present nor queryable in the same way.
Workaround: Triage segments into three groups: those expressible as HubSpot active lists, those that must become static lists frozen at migration time, and those that simply cease to exist. Do this triage before quoting, because the third group tends to include the segments the client cares about most.
Consent Is Modelled Differently and Getting It Wrong Is a Legal Problem
Klaviyo tracks email and SMS consent separately with their own subscription states and timestamps. HubSpot uses subscription types plus legal basis fields. A careless import can convert an SMS-only opt-in into an email marketing opt-in, or reset consent timestamps that are the evidence of lawful processing.
Workaround: Migrate consent as a first-class object, not as a column in the contact import. Preserve the consent state, the source, and the original timestamp for every profile, mapped explicitly to HubSpot subscription types and legal basis. Never let a bulk import default anyone to subscribed.
Flows Must Be Redesigned, and the Ecommerce Triggers Have No Direct HubSpot Analogue
Klaviyo flows support over 45 trigger types tied to product, order, and behaviour events, including abandoned cart, browse abandonment, back in stock, and price drop. HubSpot workflows trigger on properties, form submissions, list membership, and (on Professional and above) custom behavioral events. Abandoned cart in HubSpot depends on an ecommerce integration and is materially less capable.
Workaround: Rebuild only revenue-producing flows, and confirm the trigger data will exist in HubSpot before committing to each one. Back in stock and price drop generally need either a third-party tool or the ecommerce platform itself. This is the point where some Klaviyo clients should be advised to keep Klaviyo for ecommerce sending.
The Integration Surface Area Is What Blows up the Timeline
Klaviyo accounts typically sit behind a web of Zapier scenarios and platform integrations feeding profiles and events from ecommerce, CRM, subscription, and loyalty systems. None of those redirect themselves. When they are missed, contacts stop being created and event data stops arriving, and the failure is silent.
Workaround: Run a full integration and Zap audit before anything else, and treat it as a prerequisite rather than a step. Migrations scoped at two weeks routinely become six once the real integration surface is visible.
Every Klaviyo Feature Is Available on Every Plan, and HubSpot's Are Not
Klaviyo does not gate features by tier: pricing scales with active profile count and the feature set is identical at every level. HubSpot gates heavily. Workflows, custom behavioral events, the social tool, A/B testing, and custom reporting all require Professional or above; custom objects and business units require Enterprise. Clients accustomed to having everything at their price point encounter tier walls they have never had to think about.
Workaround: Build the feature-to-tier map before quoting the migration, not after. The required HubSpot tier is an output of the feature audit, and it frequently lands a tier higher than the client assumed.
SMS Parity Is Geography-limited on HubSpot
Klaviyo offers native SMS and MMS as a usage-based add-on with broad international support. HubSpot's native marketing SMS requires Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise plus a paid add-on, and sends only from US numbers to US and Canada destinations.
Workaround: Confirm the client's sending geography before promising SMS parity. Outside the US and Canada, a third-party SMS app is mandatory, which changes both cost and the automation architecture.
Reviews and Catalog-driven Content Have No HubSpot Equivalent, and Coupons Only Partly Do
Klaviyo Reviews collects and displays product reviews; Klaviyo generates unique coupon codes for use in flows; and product catalogs power dynamic recommendation blocks inside emails. HubSpot has no product reviews and no dynamic product-feed email block. It does generate discount codes, but they are shared codes that redeem only against HubSpot payment links, not unique single-use codes issued per recipient inside a flow. Product data can live in HubSpot Products.
Workaround: Identify which emails depend on catalog blocks or unique coupons before rebuilding them, since those templates cannot be recreated faithfully. Reviews need a dedicated third-party platform.
Sending Reputation Resets at Cutover
Klaviyo sending reputation is built on its own infrastructure and does not transfer. Moving a large, previously well-performing list to HubSpot means starting again on new sending infrastructure, with the attendant risk of a deliverability dip precisely when the client is watching most closely.
Workaround: Warm up sending deliberately: start with the most engaged segments and expand over several weeks. Complete SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configuration before the first send, and set expectations that early open rates are not a like-for-like comparison.
Templates, Signup Forms, and Landing Pages Must Be Rebuilt
Klaviyo email templates, signup forms including popups and flyouts, and landing pages have no import path into HubSpot. Signup forms in particular are embedded in the storefront theme and stop capturing when Klaviyo is removed.
Workaround: Rebuild templates in HubSpot and replace every embedded form in the storefront theme before decommissioning. Test on a staging theme: a popup that silently stops collecting is indistinguishable from one that is simply not converting.
Schemaless Profile Properties Collide With HubSpot's Typed Properties
Klaviyo profile properties are created implicitly by whatever writes them, so accounts accumulate inconsistent keys, mixed types, and near-duplicate fields. HubSpot requires each property to be declared in advance with a fixed type, and rejects values that do not conform.
Workaround: Profile the actual property keys and value types in the export before designing HubSpot properties, rather than trusting a documented schema that does not exist. Expect a consolidation pass where several Klaviyo keys merge into one HubSpot property.
Five Klaviyo Features HubSpot Cannot Replace
Not a workaround away. If a client depends on one of these, it belongs in the conversation before the contract.
Back in Stock and Price Drop Flows
No HubSpot equivalent. Depends on catalog event data HubSpot does not receive.
Mobile Push Notifications
No HubSpot equivalent.
Predicted Customer Lifetime Value
HubSpot has no equivalent predictive suite.
Expected Date of Next Order
No HubSpot equivalent.
Klaviyo Reviews
No HubSpot equivalent.
The 21 Items That Get Rebuilt by Hand
This is the list that separates a quote that holds from one that does not.
Data And Objects
Profiles and Custom Properties
Profiles export to CSV or via API. Every custom property must be profiled for real key names and value types, consolidated, and declared as a typed HubSpot property before import.
Event and Metric History
The full retained event stream, including Placed Order, Viewed Product, and Started Checkout, has no migration path. Only aggregate values can be carried across as properties.
Predictive Analytics Fields
Predicted CLV, churn risk, expected date of next order, average time between orders, and predicted gender must be exported as static values.
Consent and Subscription State
Email and SMS consent states, sources, and timestamps must be mapped explicitly to HubSpot subscription types and legal basis fields.
Product Catalog
Klaviyo catalog items feeding dynamic email blocks must be recreated as HubSpot products, without an equivalent dynamic recommendation block.
Automation
Flows
Every flow must be rebuilt as a HubSpot workflow, with triggers remapped from Klaviyo events to whatever HubSpot can actually observe. Conditional splits, A/B splits, and time delays translate structurally, but the triggers frequently do not.
Ecommerce Flows Specifically
Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, back in stock, and price drop flows depend on Klaviyo's ecommerce event integration. HubSpot's abandoned cart depends on an ecommerce integration and is materially weaker; back in stock and price drop have no equivalent.
Segments
Dynamic segments must be triaged: rebuilt as HubSpot active lists where expressible, frozen as static lists where not, or retired.
Email Templates
Templates must be rebuilt in HubSpot's email editor. There is no import path.
SMS Flows and Templates
SMS messages and flows require HubSpot's paid SMS add-on on Marketing Hub Professional or above, and only work for US to US and Canada sending.
Reporting
Revenue Attribution Reporting
Klaviyo attributes placed orders and revenue back to specific messages using last-touch attribution over its own event data. HubSpot attribution works differently and cannot reconstruct Klaviyo's historical figures.
Campaign and Flow Performance Dashboards
Flow performance reporting must be rebuilt as HubSpot custom reports. HubSpot does compare email performance against its own benchmark and an industry benchmark in the email health tool, but there is no equivalent to Klaviyo's account-level peer benchmarking by industry and size band.
Sales And Marketing Config
Signup Forms, Popups, and Flyouts
Klaviyo signup forms embedded in the storefront theme must be replaced with HubSpot forms or pop-up forms, and the theme edited before Klaviyo is removed.
Landing Pages
Klaviyo-hosted landing pages must be rebuilt in HubSpot and their URLs redirected.
Coupons
Klaviyo generates unique single-use coupon codes for use inside flows. HubSpot generates discount codes, but they are shared codes that redeem only against HubSpot payment links, so there is no per-recipient code and no redemption at an external store checkout.
Reviews
Klaviyo Reviews collection and display widgets have no HubSpot equivalent and need a dedicated replacement platform.
Sending Domain and Deliverability Setup
SPF, DKIM, and DMARC must be configured for HubSpot sending, and reputation warmed from scratch.
Users And Permissions
Users and Roles
Klaviyo users and permission levels must be recreated as HubSpot users, teams, and permission sets.
Integrations
Ecommerce Platform Integration
The Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, or custom storefront integration feeding Klaviyo must be re-established against HubSpot, which has a shallower ecommerce data model.
Zapier Scenarios and API Feeds
Every Zap, webhook, and custom API integration writing profiles or events into Klaviyo must be inventoried and re-pointed at HubSpot.
Loyalty, Subscription, and Reviews Apps
Third-party apps writing into Klaviyo, such as loyalty and subscription platforms, must be checked for HubSpot support, which is often absent.

Questions
Klaviyo To HubSpot, Answered
Yes. Third party app, two way, covering 2 objects. What it does not do is rebuild configuration: that is the 21 items below.
Typically 4-12 weeks. Complexity is driven by automation and reporting depth, not by record count: the connector moves records, so a large database is not by itself a long project.
Of 41 features we mapped, 6 (15%) carry across directly and 30 (73%) map partially, meaning something is lost or reshaped. 5 have no HubSpot equivalent at any tier.
21 items have to be rebuilt by hand, and 13 documented limitations are not surfaced by the connector at all. The full list of both is on this page.
There is no HubSpot-built connector.
5: Back in stock and price drop flows, Mobile push notifications, Predicted customer lifetime value, Expected date of next order, Klaviyo Reviews. If a client depends on one, it belongs in the conversation before the contract.
Only in one direction. The sync is not bidirectional here, so a parallel period means picking a system of record and accepting drift in the other.
