Nimble to HubSpot Migration

What actually transfers, what quietly does not, and what has to be rebuilt by hand.

We mapped Nimble against HubSpot feature by feature: 38 features, 2 synced objects, 6 documented traps and 27 items that have to be rebuilt. The whole map is on this page, ungated.

The PDF is the same reference, formatted to send to a client.

Where this comes from: Our own research corpus, verified 2026-08-01, behind every number on this page.

The Two Objects That Sync Natively

What the connector moves for you, and which way each one flows.

Contact (Person)

Two wayTwo way

Becomes Contact

Default matching by email address. Social profile URLs from Nimble are not included in default field mappings.

Contact (Company)

Two wayTwo way

Becomes Company

Default matching by company name or domain. Association mappings link contacts to their companies.

Six Things the Sync Does Not Tell You

Each one is documented, and each one has ended a migration in a bad week.

No Deal/opportunity Sync

The native HubSpot Data Sync integration does not sync Nimble Deals to HubSpot Deals. Deals must be migrated separately via CSV export/import or API.

Workaround: Export deals from Nimble as CSV (limited to editable fields only) and import into HubSpot. Alternatively, use Zapier or a third-party middleware tool.

Notes and Email History Cannot Be Exported From Nimble

Nimble does not allow exporting notes or email correspondence. The CSV export only contains data from editable fields on contact/deal records.

Workaround: Use Nimble API to extract notes and activities programmatically, then import as HubSpot engagement activities via API. Manual screenshot/archive for critical records.

Social Profile Data Does Not Sync Natively

Nimble's core value proposition is social CRM enrichment (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook profiles). These social profile URLs and social engagement data are not included in the HubSpot Data Sync default field mappings.

Workaround: Custom field mapping may capture social URLs if stored as custom fields in Nimble. Social enrichment must be recreated using HubSpot's social tools or third-party enrichment services.

Dropdown and Multi-select Fields May Only Sync One-way

HubSpot Data Sync has a known limitation where dropdown select, radio select, and checkbox property types cannot always sync bidirectionally. These may map as one-way text fields.

Workaround: Manually verify field type mappings after initial sync setup. Create custom text properties in HubSpot if needed.

Phone Number Sync Limited to Primary, Mobile, and Fax

Only the first phone number syncs to the HubSpot Phone Number property. Additional numbers sync only if labeled as Mobile or Fax in Nimble.

Workaround: Manually map additional phone numbers to custom HubSpot properties.

Tags Do Not Sync Natively

Nimble tags (used heavily for segmentation and categorization) are not automatically mapped to any HubSpot property in the Data Sync integration.

Workaround: Export contacts with tags from Nimble CSV and import into HubSpot using a custom multi-select property or HubSpot static lists. Alternatively, use Zapier to push tag data.

The 27 Items That Get Rebuilt by Hand

This is the list that separates a quote that holds from one that does not.

Data And Objects

Deals and Opportunities

Nimble's sales records, held outside the scope of any native connector.

HubSpot: Deals

Export by CSV or API and import as deals. Pipeline and stage have to exist in HubSpot before the import or every deal lands in the default stage.

Notes and Activity History

Free-text notes and logged activity attached to contacts and deals.

HubSpot: Notes and the activity timeline

Not available through the standard export, so this needs API extraction. Budget the API work explicitly rather than assuming a CSV covers it.

Email Correspondence History

Email threads logged against Nimble records.

HubSpot: Logged email on the timeline

Not exportable from Nimble. Where the mailbox is still connected, reconnecting it to HubSpot recovers recent threads, which is usually cheaper than extraction.

Tags and Segmentation

Tags used to group contacts outside the field structure.

HubSpot: Contact properties and lists

Decide per tag whether it is a property value or a list. Importing every tag as its own property is the usual mistake.

Social Profile Enrichment

The LinkedIn, X and Facebook profile data Nimble attaches to a contact automatically.

HubSpot: Contact properties, or an enrichment product

This is Nimble's signature feature and HubSpot does not reproduce it for free. If the client relies on it, price the replacement rather than assuming it comes across.

File Attachments

Documents attached to contact and deal records.

HubSpot: Attachments on records

Pulled through the API and re-associated after the records land, so it is a second pass rather than part of the main import.

Web Form Submissions

Historical submissions captured by Nimble's forms.

HubSpot: Form submissions on the timeline

Historical submissions arrive as data, not as timeline events. Agree whether the history matters before paying to move it.

Automation

Nimble Workflow Automations

Nimble's Kanban-style process boards that move records through defined stages.

HubSpot: Workflows, with pipelines for the board itself

A board is two things in HubSpot: a pipeline for the stages and workflows for the automation. Splitting it correctly is most of the work.

Email Sequences and Group Messaging

Outbound sequences and one-to-many sends from Nimble.

HubSpot: Sequences and marketing email

Sales sequences and marketing sends are separate tools in HubSpot. Decide which each Nimble campaign really was before rebuilding it.

Task Automation Rules

Rules creating tasks when a record changes.

HubSpot: Workflow task actions

Rebuild the trigger, not just the task. Task due-date offsets are the detail that usually gets lost.

Pipeline Stage Automation Triggers

Actions fired when a deal changes stage.

HubSpot: Deal stage workflow enrolment

Stages must be created before the workflows, or the enrolment criteria have nothing to point at.

Reporting

Deal and Revenue Reports

Revenue and forecast reporting over the deal pipeline.

HubSpot: Deal reports and forecasting

Depends on deal amount, close date and stage arriving clean. Fix the import before rebuilding the report.

Pipeline Conversion Analytics

Stage-to-stage conversion reporting.

HubSpot: Deal funnel reports

Conversion reporting needs stage history, which the import does not carry. Expect it to build up from cutover rather than backfill.

Activity and Engagement Reports

Reporting on calls, emails and meetings logged by the team.

HubSpot: Activity reports

Restarts at migration unless activity history is extracted, which is the expensive item above.

Sales Rep Performance Dashboards

Per-owner dashboards used to track the team.

HubSpot: Dashboards and custom reports

Owner has to map to a real HubSpot user on import or every report attributes to nobody.

Sales And Marketing Config

Deal Pipelines and Custom Stages

Nimble's sales pipelines and the stages within them.

HubSpot: Deal pipelines and stages

Quick to build and needs doing first, because deals, workflows and reports all depend on it.

Custom Fields

Custom fields on contacts, companies and deals.

HubSpot: Custom properties

Map field type as well as name. A Nimble text field holding dates has to become a real date property or nothing downstream can filter on it.

Email Templates and Saved Messages

Reusable message templates used by the sales team.

HubSpot: Email templates and snippets

Rebuilt by hand. Personalisation tokens have different names and will not carry across.

Web and Lead Capture Forms

Forms feeding contacts into Nimble.

HubSpot: Forms

Swap every website embed at cutover or leads keep arriving in the old system.

Saved Searches and Segmentation Views

Saved filters the team works from day to day.

HubSpot: Saved views and active lists

Cheap to rebuild and worth doing early: it is what the team notices missing on day one.

Users And Permissions

User Accounts and Roles

Logins and the permission level attached to each.

HubSpot: Users and permission sets

Created fresh, and needed before the import so record ownership can resolve.

Team Assignments

Which users belong to which team.

HubSpot: Teams

Map the intent rather than the structure. A literal copy usually over-restricts.

Record Ownership and Visibility Rules

Who owns a record and who else can see it.

HubSpot: Record ownership and access settings

HubSpot partitions visibility differently. Confirm what the client actually needs hidden before reproducing old restrictions.

Integrations

Connected Social Accounts

The LinkedIn, X and Facebook connections behind Nimble's social features.

HubSpot: Social publishing and monitoring

HubSpot's social tools do publishing and monitoring, not per-contact profile enrichment. The two are not the same job.

Calendar Sync

Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 calendar connection.

HubSpot: Calendar integration and the meetings tool

Reconnected per user, not once for the account. Missing a user means their meetings stop logging silently.

Third-party App Connections

Native connectors and Zapier automations joining Nimble to other tools.

HubSpot: App Marketplace integrations and updated Zapier scenarios

Zapier scenarios need editing on both sides, since the trigger and the field names both change.

Email Provider Connection

The mailbox connection that logs conversations to records.

HubSpot: Connected inbox

Per user again. Connect before cutover so conversation logging is continuous rather than gapped.

The Sequence

Sync First, Then Migrate

Effort Estimator

How Big Is This Migration?

A handful of questions, no email required. The ranges come from the research above: every feature we mapped carries an effort figure, and this adds up the ones that apply to you.

Custom fields and properties across all records

Everything beyond the out-of-the-box fields, added up across contacts, companies, deals and anything custom.

Automations, workflows and rules

Anything that fires on its own: workflows, sequences, assignment and validation rules, approvals.

Custom reports and dashboards

Only the ones the business actually uses. Reports nobody opens do not need rebuilding.

Marketing assets to rebuild

Email templates, forms, landing pages, lists and segments taken together.

Custom objects or extra pipelines

Record types beyond contacts, companies, deals and tickets.

Third-party integrations wired into the current system

Anything connected by API, webhook or installed package that has to keep working afterwards.

Roughly how many contact records

This affects the sync approach and the reconciliation effort, not the per-record work. The connector moves records; people do not.

Estimated Effort

Answer a couple of questions and an hours range appears here.

Built from our research on 38 Nimble features. It is a range, not a quote.

A planning range, not a quote. It is delivery effort only, with no project management line and no agency markup, so add your own. What moves it most in practice is data quality.

What Goes Wrong Most Often

The failures that show up again and again, in roughly the order they bite.

Nimble's CSV Export Does NOT Include Notes, Emails, or Activity History

this is a significant data loss risk if not addressed via API

Social Profile Enrichment (Nimble's Key Differentiator) Does Not Transfer

clients accustomed to social CRM features may need HubSpot Social tools or Clearbit/ZoomInfo
